I want to thank Matthew Koma, who wrote this song with me; obviously Foxes, for singing this song. I want to thank my family; I want to thank my team...

Zedd at the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards

56th Annual GRAMMY Awards

The GRAMMY Awards, also known as the Gramophone Awards, is an annual award show held by the NARAS to recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry.

56th GRAMMY Awards[]

The 56th ceremony was held on January 26, 2014, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Halfway through the ceremony—around the time the winner of the "Best Dance Recording" Grammy was being announced—Foxes left to go get beverages with Disclosure and Sam Smith, though she came back when the winner—"Clarity"—was announced.[1] Zedd and Foxes went up on stage to receive the award, where Zedd stated that he was unprepared for the moment and Foxes said that they had nothing prepared. Zedd then gave a short speech thanking those who'd helped them create the song, including but not limited to Matthew Koma, Dave Rene, and Jimmy Iovine. After he was done, Foxes confessed that she'd had chewing gum in her mouth, though she'd taken it out. She thanked Zedd for giving her the opportunity to work on the song, saying the journey had been "a dream" and "otherworldly". She also thanked everyone who decided to buy "Clarity", Matthew Koma once again, and her mother. At the end of their speeches, Zedd thanked Skrillex, who he called a "really good friend" of his, and said that the Grammy was for him.[2]
